Product Review- Mobi Stories Virtual Books For Kids

I recently had the opportunity to download a few digital books for my daughter from Mobi Stories and I thought they were so coll that I wanted to share.

We are not high tech folk here at the Penny Pinching Parent household... we don't have the latest and greatest gadgets, we are penny pincher's." You can download these stories and load them onto your iPhone, iPod, etc, but I just downloaded them to watch on the desktop computer. I figured they would make some great rainy day activity where my 2 year old and I could cuddle up and watch/read a book at the computer.

Which is exactly what they did until I had a doctor appointment a week or so ago and I wound-up having to take my daughter with me. I only had to talk to the doctor as a follow-up for some medicine, but still... she's two, anyone with a toddler knows what a trip anywhere can be like with a rambunctious toddler.

Not knowing what I was going to do to keep her entertained. I thought of the Mobi Stories. My husband had bought a netbook over the holidays and I had a little portable usb storage device... voila... mobile stories for my toddler. It's not a cell phone or iPod, but I thought I would give it a whirl.

When we got there I started reading one of the books with her in the waiting room, so she was excited and in to it by the time I got called back. When I got to the room, I just put the netbook on the chair and she stood there and listened to the story and let me talk to the doctor (the best a toddler can, but better than average). It was great.

I knew we really liked these books at home, but having them portable.... that's great! I am not one to park my child in front of anything as a baby sitter, but it was a lifesaver for me in a crunch. She loved it and it was educational.

The stories we selected were Ella Elephant, Miles the Crocodile, Spring and Summer, but they have quite a few to chose from... we stuck to those appropriate for toddlers. My 2 year old loves the bright colors and music that go along with the stories.

The books range from around $3.99 to $7.99 and as I said can be downloaded in formats for your PC, iPhone or iPod.

Also, you can download a free book when you visit Mobi Stories. On the homepage there is a aqua tab with a turtle that is labeled "free book." You will need to enter your name and e-mail address and then you can download your free book, Salsa for Kittens and Puppies.
