Product Reviewed: Breastflow Bottles Starter Set

Price: $19.99 (lowest price found)

Availability: At a wide range of baby retailers, but the best price on this set at the time of this review was at The Learning Curve Shop.

Set includes:

  • Two 5 oz bottles with Stage 1 nipples and bottle covers
  • Two 9 oz bottles with Stage 2 flow nipples and bottle covers
  • A unique snap-to-bottle container
  • Bottle brush.
Product Features:

"Breastflow is the only feeding system that requires both suction and compression, just like breastfeeding. The nipple is designed to mimic the breast so baby can latch on and to encourage the same mouth and tongue position as breast feeding. The double nipple system requires both suction and compression, just like breast feeding and baby controls the flow of milk. It's the bottle most like breastfeeding.

The Breastflow System is ideal for nursing moms who would like to introduce a bottle, are returning to work, or need to supplement while their baby is in day care or with a caregiver. Because Breastflow bottles so closely mimic the feel and action of breastfeeding, care givers can bottle feed baby while Mom is working and Mom can still continue to breastfeed.
Breastflow bottles are bisphenol-free (BPA-free). "

This review was provided to Penny Pinching Parent by a friend of mine, Michelle. This review goes hand in hand with the miPump that Michelle also shared her thoughts on since she is using the two items together. Be sure to check that out if you missed it. Thank you so much to Michelle for your help with this review.

First impression of the Breastflow Bottle Set?

"I have actually seen these bottles before and was very curious about them due to the fact that I had a baby that was breastfed and would not take the bottle. I was a stay-at-home mom at the time and we didn't push the issue too hard, but did not want the same thing to happen this time around. At first site, they really look like an average bottle, just with a unique nipple system. The set is a nice set for new moms with sorta a variety of items to get you started. "

What do you like about the bottles?

"I like the mechanism in which the baby has to work to get the milk. It's not as easy to get milk out of this bottle as as standard bottle. The baby has to work for it just like he does with mommy. This bottle seems to resemble the real deal a little more and has made transitioning from breast to bottle much easier this go around.

I also like the way in which the nipple system comes apart to clean, so even though it's 2 parts, it's as easy to clean to me as a regular bottle. The wide mouth on the bottles is nice for pouring stored milk into and not having to worry too much about spilling and I of course like the fact that it fits right onto my miPump."

Is there anything you don't like about these bottles?

"No, nothing that I can think of."

Would you suggest the Breastflow bottles to other moms?

"I definitely would suggest these bottles to other moms, especially nursing moms who have had a baby who would not or will not take a bottle. Don't let the appearance of these bottles put you off and make you think that they are going to be more difficult to clean, etc. I have had sippy cups that are harder to clean than these bottles. Every baby is different and you have to try what works best for you, but these are definitely worth trying from the get go. "

This review is right on. This is the only bottle my breastfed baby will take - and since it's not as easy as normal bottle to feed from she will also still breastfeed!
