Product Review The Shandle™ Toilet Seat Handle

Item Reviewed: The Shandle™ Toilet Seat Handle

Price: $6.99

Availability: TheShandle.com

Description:

It's a unique bathroom accessory that encourages children to "wash their hands". The Shandle is plastic and contains an anti-microbial ingredient that helps prevent germs from growing on its surface. It sticks to the toilet and instantly creates a cleaner way to lift and lower the seat with. There are many playful designs and messages that teach children about good hygiene AND it prevents them from ever having to touch the germ filled toilet seat again.

What the PPP family thinks?

As many of you already know, we are in the midst of potty training at our house. Part our our potty training includes a huge emphasis on handwashing. We are taking advantage of the hours spent in the bathroom to teach our little one the importance of handwashing, especially since we are in cold & flu season.

Kids can be so funny. My little one loves to play in water, but can't stand to wash her hands. So, we are always on the look out for little things to help encourage this healthy habit. That's why I was looking forward to reviewing the Shandle™. I am a bit of a germaphobe. Toilets are one of those areas that I have to keep clean, so another reason I was intrigued by the antimicrobial properties of the Shandle™.

I took it out and installed it when it arrived and have been using it for a few weeks now. The first time my daughter saw it, she asked what it was right off the bat. We have the little pink monkey one and I excitedly told her about how Little Miss Pink Monkey loves to wash her hands. To be honest, she just sorta looked at it and said "oh, okay." The next day or so, my husband used the bathroom in that bathroom and said something to the effect of "that's a neat idea."

I think since my little one is a girl and we don't lift the seat with her that it's maybe she's not as excited about the little handle as say a little boy would be. I also think the Shandle™ would be extremely useful in a house full of guys. It is still a great reminder for her to wash her hands and we use it for just that. Like I said, my husband thought it was a pretty nifty idea and that weighs into what I think of the Shandle™ as well.

So, my overall thoughts are that even though I feel like the Shandle™ might not be as effective for little girls as it is for little guys, it's still a great idea. I also am impressed with how well it sticks to the potty and the fact that it seems unphased by my normal cleaning of the potty.

If you are potty training a little guy, the Shandle™ is a great addition to the potty training routine- it gives them something clean to grab onto and gives them a reminder to wash their hands. And, for households with several guys... the decorative ones are great for the simple fact that guys don't have to lift a potentially germy seat.

The Shandle™ comes in a ton of really great designs, they even have some new Halloween designs. It's extremely budget friendly at $6.99 (free shipping at the time of this review also) and it's backed by a 100% money back guarantee. So, you can't go wrong with the Shandle™.
