What the PPP family thinks?
One of the areas where we spend a lot of time working with my daughter is fine motor skill exploration & development. For the longest time she just wasn't a kid who liked to build or stack. It wasn't that she couldn't do it, she just didn't want to. Now, we seem to be in a phase where she just loves to build stuff... and of course knock it down!
We have a couple of sets of stacking cups that we have had pretty much since my little one was born. She enjoys this type of activity, so I was more than happy to review the Discovery Toys Measure Up!® Cups.
One of the first things I noticed about these cups was the size. These cups are a little bigger than you average stacking cups and there are more cups than you typically get in a cup set.
Also the color was something that stood out to me... they are red, yellow, green & blue and the colors repeat. This makes them perfect for sorting activities. All of our other sets are a wide variety of colors, none of which repeat.
Finally, I cannot praise Discovery Toys enough for their expanded Parent Guide and basically "spoon feeding" or should I say "cup feeding" me ideas on how to expand the play with these cups outside of your basic stacking and nesting. These cups are numbered so you can count, they have repeating colors so you can sort, they have pictures on the bottom so you can stamp them in your craft dough, they are even volumterically correct so you can start teaching your little one concepts of volume & size. They go above and beyond your typical stacking cups.
Yes, you will find cup sets out there that are a little less expensive, but this set is well worth the $12.50 for the size and quality alone, not to mention all the expanded play possibilities. These are definitley a great addition to any toddler or preschool playroom.
